Airport In The Sky Repeater Site
Three of the island repeaters are located in the hangar building at The Airport In The Sky at an elevation of 1,602 ft above sea level. The repeater antennas are located in the "antenna farm" on the catwalk on the roof. The repeaters are located in a climate controlled cargo container vault inside the hangar.
The approach from the air is exciting to say the least! The runway is carved out of a mountaintop you don't want to land too short. On the other hand, the runway is uphill. How much runway is left on the other side?
The three repeaters and related equipment reside inside the hangar vault. The components are labeled in the picture.
Because space is limited inside the vault, the duplexers are suspended from the ceiling and hang above the equipment rack. The 2 meter duplexer is on the left and the 220 duplexer is on the right. The 900 mHz duplexer is mounted on the rack shelf with the repeater.
The antennas are all mounted 18 inches apart along one side of the catwalk on the roof of the hangar. CARA's three antennas are labeled in the picture.
