November 13, 2003 Meeting of
CARC, Parkside Baptist Church
There were 12 people in
attendance. President Joe LaFauci
presided.
The Minutes of the October
meeting and the Treasurer’s report were read and accepted.
Alvin, KA9QLQ reported that
the church will accept a donation of the use of the facility. Twice in the past a check for $75.00 was
given. Check is to be marked “for
utilities”. Treasurer will be directed
when to make this donation.
The SATERN speaker was unable
to be at the November meeting but will try to come in December to discuss
Amateur Radio involvement with the Salvation Army.
Sarah Bartlett agreed to be
Net Control for December as she has for the past few years.
It was announced that the 440
antenna has been installed at North H.S. and they are waiting for the frequency
allocation to tune the duplexers and do the final set up. In themeantime they are operating on 446.05
Simplex with a PL tone of 136.5.
Marion, WD9HTN, reported the
current repeater does not have the ability to have the PL tones we wanted, but
that the ID volume was adjusted. Burt
Baltus was consulted about repeaters that are advertised and would not
recommend any of those as a replacement for the current system, but would
recommend a ‘commercial’ repeater that is made by Kenwood. He has one on order and plans to put it on
146.955 to try it out. If we are
interested he would let us use it on our frequency before buying. Marion passed around copies of the
specifications and discussion of various alternatives followed. No decision was made.
Russ Thackery asked about Ham
classes for an interested party. Nothing
specific is planned at this time.
The 2004 Hamfest date was
confirmed as March 28, with set-up on March 27, 2004.
Scottie, KB9WCQ, reported that
Art, KA9ION, is in the VA hospital in Indianapolis.
Meeting adjourned.
