Old Business:
Steve Lowe reported that the Sandy Hook bicycle event is still on, and that several club
members have committed to provide support. Those assisting are asked to arrive by 7:00am , and the ride will begin at 8:00am. It was agreed that Steve would call up a net
the preceding evening to coordinate plans for those assisting.
New Business:
Our guest Mary Ellen Anable of the local Red Cross spoke briefly about ways that our
group could assist with disaster management. The question was asked whether group members would be required to complete disaster/emergency training. Her response was that although the training could be beneficial to members, our primary role would be to provide communications support and that the training was optional. Ms. Anable provided contact information for those present who might wish to contact her at the Red Cross.
Marion Winterberg reported to the group that the 4H Fairgrounds has offered (2) dates to the club for our 2006 hamfest. The dates are 3/25 and 4/1. Marion mentioned that one of our “key” vendors would be unable to attend the 4/1 session, and made a motion that the club accept the 3/25 date. The motion was seconded and passed by those present.
During the storms we experienced last Wednesday, our repeater was rendered inoperable due to a “low voltage” error message being reported by the repeater software. Marion Winterberg advised that he has asked Bert Baltus to disable the low voltage tone on the repeater. This should prevent this problem from occuring in the future.
Misc: Joe LaFauci volunteered to act as net control for the month of June unless another volunteer is found.
Meeting adjourned at 9:13 pm
