March 11, 2004   Parkside Baptist Church      attendance:   20

Roundtable introductions.

Secretary’s & Treasurer’s reports were read.

Two meter repeater update:  Marion, WD9HTN, reports the new repeater unit is ready.  “They” are not happy with the controller yet.  Still working on getting tone on/off as desired.  No payment has been made yet.

Mike Riley, N9LTT, reports on the 440 repeater:  some maintenance has been done with the connections, still some RF noise at present.  Power is up to 25W form 10W previously.  Echo/IRLP which connects the two networks is in progress.  Echolink can connect up to 20 stations at one time while IRLP is limited to a single station connection.   IRLP connections may be identified by the three beeps on the courtesy tone.

Field Day 2004:  the shelter used last year at Mill Race Park has already been reserved by someone else.  Another site will need to be decided upon and locked in.  Many possibilities were discussed.   No action taken.

Hamfest 2004:  Brochures are available for yourself or for distribution.  We need people to contact radio stations for publicity announcements.  Discussion was held as to “what” copy would be provided to the stations.  Last years we spent $136 for newspaper ads in the Republic.  This included a Sunday, Thursday, and Friday ad the week prior the event.  Cost for this year’s publicity were discussed. Marion made a motion for a Sunday plus two week day ads.  After some discussion Marion withdrew his motion and made a new motion to two display ads. One Sunday and one the Thursday prior.  Motion passed.

The Kenwood mobile door prize is on hand.  Scotty, KB9WCQ, will provide a power supply/radio?/SWR meter. Scotty will also be the primary talk-in operator.

Hamfest opens to the public at 8am Saturday March 27.  Cleanup at approximately 2pm.
