Thursday January 9, 2003 Willow Crossing attendance 19 The meeting began with introductions of those around the table. Secretaries report was read by Steve Low, KB9QFT, and was approved as read. Treasurer's report was given by Lois Winterberg, KA9IOS, and approved as read. Marion Winterberg, WD9HTN, related that there was "no news" on the repeater input tone implementation. Marion has recently heard that the club's website at http://www.qsl.net/carc has drawn attention from Florida. KA9PRA, Everett Fleenor, reports his grandson has listened to the radio net recording and heard many voices and calls that he recognized. Some discussion was held concerning the static on the club's repeater. The static accompanies transmissions during windy conditions. Could this be a PolyPhaser problem? It was decided not to purchase a new one at this time. Mike Riley, N9LTT, reported on plans for the upcoming licensing classes. This is primarily for newcomers wishing to study for the Tech level license. Lecture begins at 7:00pm. There will be Morse code class held following the Tech level course. This is scheduled to begin at 8:20pm. FCC testing for General/Extra level amateur radio licenses now consist of a single 5wpm receiving only requirement. Classes will be held on six consecutive Mondays from January 13 to February 17 at Columbus North High School, room 269. Classes are free. For details call Mike at 372-2280. Many toyed with this at the meeting. Alvin Koffman, KA9QLQ, is still trying to contact Parks & Rec about a location for Field Day 2003. His initial mailing was returned for an incorrect address. Marion will be picking up the Columbus hamfest brochures from the printers tomorrow. Some mailings to exhibitors will be immediately but the bulk of the mailings will be later. Expect a work party for folding, stamping, and sealing. The hamfest is scheduled for April 12th, 2003. Mike tells that the antenna tower for the amateur station at CNHS is approved and funded.
