February 12, 2004                       Parkside Baptist Church                     Attendance:  17

Roundtable Introductions were given.

Minutes of the previous month’s mtg. were read and the Secretaries report was given.

Insurance has been added to cover the KC9BPW controller provided by the club. Replacement insurance coverage cost $1.50 for each one hundred dollars value.

Marion, WD9HTN, gave a hamfest update.  1385 brochures have been mailed. Others are available upon request.  Information will also be available via the club’s website.

Marion continued discussion of the possibility of obtaining a replacement for our aging 2m repeater and controller, 146.790 (-).  He had brought in the proposed S-Com Mark VII K controller with CW ID’er (upgradeable to audio), PL tone, and CTTS tone.  The repeater available and recommended by Burt Baltus, N9LQP, is the Kenwood TKR 750 Type II.

With the purchase of the new controller/repeater we would then have a complete repeater system available as a backup.

Chuck McTarsney, KC9DGD, made a motion that a new controller/repeater be purchased as presented, the price not to exceed $2100.  Marion seconded. Motion passed.

Marion expected that the system could be installed and operational within two weeks.  Down time will be minimal, maybe as little as half an hour. This WILL mean the the long desired input PL tone 100.0 will be implemented at last.  The tone will be able to be turned off for scheduled nets, emergency use, or other times as desired.

The KC9BPW  repeater, 443.075 +  (PL 136.5) ; IRLP node id 4625, is operating with the new controller and is available for normal amateur radio use.

Net control for March 2004 :   Alvin Koffman, KA9QLQ.
