The Annual Meeting of BCARES was held Monday, 4 Feb. 2002 at the Boulder
Police Dept. The meeting was called to order at 19:00 by Doshia Kretke,
vice chairperson.
There were 38 members in attendence:

Al Beu, Maryanne Paschen, Bill Paschen, Ron Putnam, Sherry Cole, Ed Cole,
Chuck Duey, Margaret Clark, Richard Clark, Kathy Borenstein, Mike Borenstein,
Rich Ferguson, Mike Borsuk, Joe Lischka, Butch Wright, Jack Quinn, Dawn
Wanser, Steve Price, Suzy Price, Jim Kubitschek, Karen Kubitschek, Terry
Moore and Pat Lambert.

Doshia reported that the chairman Len Koppl was unable to attend. She outlined
the evening's agenda items, key being elections. She reported on BCARES
activities in 2001.

They were mainly TV support of the CU Police Dept. at CU football games.

A BCARES officer was called to attend an emergency meeting after the terrorist
actions on 11 Sept., but no activation was made.

BCARES supported the March of Dimes

BCARES also participated in the Fire Mitigation Conference and exercise.

Jim Kubitschek reported on the CU football games.
He reported that the following hams assisted at one or more of the
games.
Mike Bartowtz, Rich Ferguson, Len Koppl, George Kretke, Doshia Kretke,
Jim Kubitschek, Karen Kubitschek, Michael Laage, Ed Schlicting, Dale Scott,
John Stransky, Ray Warren, Butch Wright & Jim Andrews.
Jim K. said that it was difficult at times to recruit a full crew.
One game we had to work with only 3 people which made it quite difficult.
Normally we prefer to have 7-8 people. Jim asked for people present to
indicate if they would be willing to work TV at 2002 football games.

Kubitschek, Terry Moore, Steve Price (?); Butch Wright, Rich Clark, Margaret
Clark, Chuck Duey, Ron Putnam (?), Dale Scott, Micael Laage, Ed Schlichting,
Troy Emerson, John Stransky, & Jim Andrews.

Bob Amick of the CU Police Dept. was present and thanked BCARES for its
excellent support again in 2001. He said they definitely want us back again
for 2002. With the construction of the new box seats on the east stadium,
he anticipates we will have some new TV propagation difficulties and new
areas to be covered by our cameras.

Karen Kubitschek reported that Len recently attended a banquet in Denver
and accepted on behalf of BCARES an award from the governor for our support
of the March of Dimes.

Troy Emerson lead a brief discussion of APRS.

Ron Putnam reported on the new BCARES shirts. The board decided after the
Fire Mitigation Conference that members need more identification beyond
just our hats. Shirts with BCARES labels are recommended, but not required.
The shirts are beige and are available in either long or short sleeves.
Shirts may be ordered from Ron. His phone # is 720-652-0115. Ron also has
"go bags" available. Grant Killy also showed a go bag back pack with wheels
that he bought for $20.

Pat Lambert reported on the QSL.NET & QTH.NET reflector. He said that
the useage has gotten too high and the operator needs financial support
to continue running it. The hat was passed for donations.

Elections were held to select several people to serve on the Board of Directors.
Doshia explained that a year ago the Board had decided to expand the number
of directors by adding one more director at large. This new director would
serve for a one year term, whereas the other at large directors serve two
year staggered terms. Doshia also announced that the odd year director,
Jack Ciaccia, had resigned and has moved to Florida. His alternate was
Pete Goldman. Pete is now the odd year director and thus we needed to elect
an alternate to Pete.

Rick Clark was elected to be Pete's alternate.

Dale Scott was elected to be the new Even Year at large director (expires
2004).

Doshia was elected to be Dale's alternate.

Jim Kubitschek was elected to be the one year at large director.

Grant Killy was elected to be Jim's alternate.

Pat Lambert lead discussions on training and events planned for 2002. Pat
asked everyone to read the extensive training material that is now available
on his W0IPL web site. After the material has been read, Pat encouraged
everyone to then take the 3, 50 question tests on the material. Those passing
will be issued a certificate by the state EC. Pat said we will try to have
packet exercises at least monthly following the monday eve. net.

Pat announced that the Sheriff's dept. purchased a lot of new eqpt. for
BCARES this last year. It included HF rig, new IC-2100H 2m rigs & (2)
new SONY TV cameras. Jim Andrews announced that both Longmont & Boulder
police depts. have acquired new incident command vehicles (ICV). They are
large RV mobile command posts. They include a ham IC2100H 2m rig plus capability
to receive multiple ham TV transmissions on both 70cm & 23cm.

Doshia announced that there will be a meeting of the board of directors
next week on Monday, 11 Feb. It will be at the Boulder police dept. at
19:00. There being no further business, she declared the meeting adjourned.
