BCARES held a general meeting of all members at the Boulder Valley 
Schools admin building on January 22, 2001.  The meeting was called to order at 1908.

Each of the board members was introduced to the members.

There was a lengthy discussion of a proposal to increase the number of
voting Board member positions.  A proposal was made from the floor
"that all alternate Board members be made full voting members, and to 
add one new at-large Board member and alternate with a one-year term, 
which Board member shall not have previously been a voting Board
member."

The Board took this proposal under advisement for discussion at the
next regular Board meeting.

ELECTIONS
---------
The at-large position held by Jack Ciaccia was up for renewal.  The
nominees for the position were Jack Ciaccia, Pete Goldman, and Jim
Kubitschek.  The vote of members present was to re-elect Jack Ciaccia
as the at-large Board member, with Pete Goldman as his alternate.

Because of the possibility of a new at-large Board member, pending
Board action, it was decided to elect a "provisional" at-large Board
member to fill this slot if it is created.  The nominees for this
position were Jim Kubitschek, Karen Kubitschek, and Ed Schlichting.
The vote of members present were to elect Jim Kubitschek as the
provisional new at-large Board member, with Karen Kubitschek as his
alternate.

NEW BUSINESS

Chuck Pringle of BCSO discussed several items:
  -- photos for new ID cards were taken. Anyone who missed getting
     a photo for a new card should call Len Koppl
  -- a briefing on the Walker Ranch fire
  -- a reminder that the Boulder Regional Communications Center
     was disbanded as of 1/1/2000.  The county is hoping to build
     its own communications center near the jail soon; the current
     center, being shared with Boulder PD, is extremely crowded.

Pat Lambert briefed the group on the Level 1 Disaster Training effort.
The materials he has developed has been proposed as the state standard.
