BCARES Board Meeting Minutes, 8 January 2001

The BCARES Board of Directors met on 8 January 2001 at the Boulder
Police Dept.  The meeting came to order at 1910 and a quorum was
declared.

LARC Report: Pat Lambert got a call from Longmont -- they are ready
to buy some equipment, including antennas, for installation at the
police department and at fire station 5.

Equipment Report: Thanks to some end-of-year money, the County was
able to buy a fair number of items to replace obsolete and broken
items.  That includes six (used) laptop computers, 3 Icom IC-2100H
radios, 1 IC-706 radio with power supply, 2 KAM-98s, 2 KPC-3s, 4
HP-350c printers, 1 camcorder, 2 headsets, 2 ICOM IC-R3 receivers,
1 GPS unit, and several antennas, batteries, chargers, and other
misc. accessories.  Total: about $8100 worth of items.

Training Report: The 1st Level disaster training class was
announced -- and full within 24 hours.  One problem with it: it
costs $40 to go through (to pay for the development of the training
materials), so it is unlikely we would want everyone to go through
it.

ID Badges: Len Koppel has coordinated replacement (or, in many
cases, first) badges for all members.  They will be issued en masse
before the annual meeting.  A letter will be sent to all members on
the roster to 1) inform them of the agenda of the annual meeting,
scheduled for 22 January, and 2) inform them of the logistics to
obtain new badges.

Pending Members: A number of pending applications were approved by
the Board.

It was noted that the March of Dimes event is scheduled for April
28.

It was noted that we need to work on our packet cluster, not only to
coordinate with surrounding clusters, but also there are equipment
issues, not the least of which is the computer running ours is a
'386-based machine that is "dying".  Randy Cassingham agreed to donate
a 166-MHz Pentium machine to replace it.

The next Board meeting was set for 29 January (is this correct?  I
didn't get this written down clearly).
