The recently announced ICOM 703 all-mode transceiver promises
efficient QRP operation on HF and 6 meters. Output can be set for 10,
5, 2.5, 1 or 0.5 watts. Energy conservation is realized by lowering the
power source voltage to 6 VDC. Many features, usually extra charge, are
built-in including: automatic antenna tuner, AF DSP, Memory keyer and
TCXO.
Other features include IF shift, AF speech compressor, band scope, and
SWR indication. This new radio is expected in early 2003. More details
will be added as they become available. Special note: 6 meter coverage
is unconfirmed.
