Dear fellow amateur,
We’d like to introduce you to the Black Diamond Amateur Radio Club (BDARC), or if you are a former member invite you to come back.
The club was founded in the late 1960's, and over the years has evolved and expanded as the hobby has changed. We now have one 2-meter repeater which can be linked to provide coverage ranging from Wyoming to Greenbrier counties and Fayette to Mercer counties. You can check us out on the web at
www.qsl.net/bdarc.Our membership includes folks who are very experienced in equipment maintenance, operation, and antenna building. Some enjoy DX-ing while others mostly talk locally on 2-meters. Some like contesting. Some are also members of the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) group. Others just enjoy the social aspect of the club. As you can see there is much diversity among the membership. That diversity does not stop with activities. We have members of all ages from senior citizens to junior high students, men and women. We encourage family participation in all of our activities.
Club activities include:
2-meter net on Monday & Wednesday nights at 9pm on the 145.370 repeater.
In weather emergencies work as spotters or with the Red Cross in association with ARES.
Have annual summer picnic (at Field Day) and Christmas dinner.
Participate in the amateur radio Field Day national contest annually the last weekend in June.
Participate in the Boy Scout Jamboree on the Air in October.
The club meets monthly at 7:30p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the Chick-fil-A restaurant on Eisenhower Drive (In front of the Marquee Theater).
Dues are $15.00 a year for an individual and $7.50 for each additional family member living in the same household. The dues amount has not changed in over 25 years.
If you’re interested in becoming a member, we invite you to join us at a meeting to see for yourself what we’re all about. There’s no obligation to join.
We look forward to meeting you.
