Connecting to the router

Connect and power up

Turn off your wireless connection if you are using it.  (don't forget to turn it back on when you are finished)

Plug the LAN cable between your computer and port one of your router.  Do not connect to the WAN port or you won't be able to talk to the router.

Plug the power cable into the router and wait till the DMZ light goes out.

Get a new DHCP lease

Open a command prompt  on your computer by doing the following.    start / all programs / accessories / command prompt

type these commands into the command prompt window.

ipconfig

ipconfig /release  (some operating systems reject this but don't worry, just do the next command)

ipconfig /renew

After a pause, this gives you a new DHCP lease.  You may need to do this after programming or making changes that can change the current IP that you are logged in with.

Log in

Now log in using your browser.  The address is http://localnode:8080

Once logged in you can make any changes you need by clicking on the 'setup' button.

Log in using the following user name and password

user name = root
password = hsmm

If you get a router from me...
password = password

Make changes

BE SURE to enter your call sign!

Make any changes you need and be sure to click the 'save changes' button before leaving any configuration page.  You will be notified if you need to reboot the router at this time.  If so, press the 'reboot' button and wait till the router reboots and the DMZ light goes out.  You MAY need to get a new DHCP lease (see above) depending on what kind of changes you have made.
