May 8th, 2013 Meeting Minutes

There
were no minutes of the March meeting and no Treasurer’s Report due to the
absence of the Secretary-Treasurer.

Business Arising:
School Lock Down Exercise – Friday, May 10, 2013

Setup at 3:00 pm. – NW
corner of gym
·
Presentation to all 25
students at approximately 9:00 a.m.
·
Scott will be leading the
group.
·
Kenora holding similar
exercise.
·
Members assisting – VGM,
VNM, NOL, GUN, AFT.
·
Thanks to Scott (EXT) and
Ken (VGM) for stepping up in Bob’s (YDN) absence.
Annual BBQ/Steak Fry
·
This year’s event will be
held June 8th at the Moody’s (VNM), same as last year.
·
Bring your own meat, a pot
luck dish, cutlery, refreshments and a lawn chair.
BBQ will
be provided.
Emergency Response Seminar
·
Club was represented by YDN,
EXT, BRY.
·
Red Cross made a
presentation on what changes they are making to their organization to improve
their profile, communications and access.
Many things highlighted from experience from previous disasters and
emergencies.
·
Presentation groups set up
in classrooms and attendees chose which session they wished to attend.
·
Bryan (BRY) outlined the
club’s goals and organization
·
Bob (YDN) dealt with
emergency response
·
Scott (EXT) covered our
various radio systems
·
Dave (LMU) presented radio
training, licencing and RAC
·
Scott Silver was one
attendee that expressed an interest in getting the Cadets involved.
Camp

This year the date was set
back to this weekend so it did not interfere with the long weekend.
It was found that most attendees only stayed for the two days anyway.

Entertainment

There is also some great
fishing!
