 May 9th, 2012 Meeting Minutes

Bryan, VA3BRY, brought the meeting to order.

 

M.S.—Jim, VE3JLN; Bob, VA3GUN the minutes of the March 14, 2012 meeting be adopted as read.  Carried.

 

Scott, VA3EXT, has been working on a digipeater for Bear Paw, and it is running on his tower at his QTH.  The emergency generator for VE3DRY repeater is ready.

 

Gerry, VA3GPW, reported that the trailer he thought might be available for the club’s EmComm trailer was already spoken for.  Jim, VE3JLN, may have a lead on a trailer.

 

Bob, VA3GUN, will check with PACE for potential grant sources for the trailer.

 

M.S.—Neil, VE3VNM; Ken, VE3VGM, we purchase up to $1,000.00 of radio equipment for the Emcomm trailer.  Carried.

 

Bryan and Dave will meet to draft a club brochure.

 

M.S.—Ed, VA3ETP; Gerry, VA3GPW to accept the Financial Statement as at May 9, 2012.  Carried.

 

New Business

 

Club BBQ planned for 09June 1600-cocktails 1700-supper; at Neil, VE3VNM, QTH.

 

Repeater Property Lease with City of Dryden—Ken, VE3VGM, talked with Mayor.  Bryan, VA3BRY, to contact City Clerk to renew the lease.

 

The CanWarn training will take place June 11, 1900 at the Fire Dept. Training Centre.

 

The lockdown that was proposed for New Prospect School was deferred to a later date.

 

The VHF antenna on the roof of the old OPP building will need to be either moved to the new facility, or salvaged for club use.  Bob, VE3YDN will contact the OPP Commander.

 

The Sioux Lookout repeater has a weak signal.  Scott will contact Adi to set a date for fixing it.

Scott is working with Andy, VE3JJX, in Kenora on setting up an APRS site at Red Lake.  Eventually, they hope to also have an IRLP link there.  They will approach Richard at Prairie Mobile to see if they can use their Red Lake tower facility.  They are trying to promote ham radio in Red Lake.
