Your greatest gift is your thinking mind. Don't set up rules of conduct for others until you have a workable system for yourself. I am sorry; I wrote that last month. Oh! Well it is still true this month.

One of our ARRL OO's and a GREAT FRIEND, is a silent key, "TEX", D. W. Meyers, N6AHV. The funeral was Nov. 1st at Glen Haven where most of the six pallbearers, were hams. Tex was one of the greatest TRUE storytellers in all of ham radio. His stories were about Rodeo Contesting, Ham Radio Contesting, Army Service, Preaching, Racing, Fist Fighting and almost everything else that you may have guessed. His friends were many and very loyal. Tex would call every week if I hadn't talked to him, and ask why I didn't call him this week. He will be missed by all, especially his wife Opal, KE6IS. Tex was one of a kind! Born in the mid-west and always claimed to be related to Geronimo. The most amazing stories always seemed to check out with others, even years after the first fantastically interesting episode was revealed..

Traffic total for AD0A, Jerry is 73 and the total for W6SX, Hank, is 37.

The Political Science professor at a local College asked the class what is "a revolution"? (answer at the end) The professor wanted the answer in the shortest and most concise form.

AA6BC, Richard our PIC, just returned from Hawaii. He was visiting the Kona coast looking for coffee beans. Dick is a travel agent so he knows when and where to go. Not everyone knows where to go without being told.

Our outstanding OOC is W6UPN, Joe, give him a call if you need help with your interference problems. (310) 421-5996 or better yet use e-mail w6upn@ix.netcom.com. Our SEC , Hank, K6YMJ, has new numbers. (818) 834 4480 and for FAX 4490. Hank's internet is unchanged hmagid@aol.com.

More and more congestion has surfaced on our bands and we are being forced to dig up the old technology of spread spectrum and SSB for the bands using mostly FM. It is proposed that ARRL consider designing a spread spectrum system for repeaters. This is good plan with many advantages but we also have SSB equipment available now on the bands that could replace our wide band FM system spacings. (we don't need 20 KHz bandwidth for voice) Hams are resourceful and creative. We should have some new good articles for QST. DSP should also be considered and even given a high priority to reduce band occupancy.

Our web site for the LA Section is in the process of being generated. Please send me your facts for this web site via w6bf@arrl.org. This site will be linked to ARRL HQ.

My friends at the University of Texas have a great program for RF Safety. Try it you'll like it! (http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/kharker/rfsafety/)
