The Amateur Radio Public Service Association (ARPSA), was formed in 1960 by a hand full of determined radio enthusiasts. The purpose, as stated in our name, is to serve the public interests through the use of Amateur radio.

Along with many members interests in ARES, RACES and skywarn, the members also volunteer their communication skills for many events throughout the whole county. 

Meetings are normally held on the first Saturday of each month.  Meetings are currently held at Glen Oaks Community College.  Please note that meeting dates and times are subject to change.  See below for he next ARPSA meeting.

How to Join

It is easy to become a member of ARPSA.  Join us at one of our regularly scheduled meetings to apply.  You do not have to have an Amateur Radio license to be a member.  Meeting schedule is listed below.

If you are already a member, or past member and want to renew your membership, you can send your dues to the treasurer, Bill Douglas, 30205 Fawn River, Sturgis, Mi. 49099. Please contact Bill for the current dues amount.


Membership

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Amateur Radio, regardless of whether you are a licensed Amateur or not.

Minutes of the last meeting

ARPSA Meeting – Glen Oaks

April 7, 2001

Next Meeting:May 4, 2001, 9am, Glen Oaks

  1. Meeting minutes were read and approved.
  2. Treasurer’s report indicated an account balance of $784.58 plus savings balance.
  3. Repeater Trustees indicated new antennas were installed by WB8ZEQ.  The 2-meter cavities were re-tuned and new batteries placed in service on the 442.15 repeater.  A receive problem continues on the 440 repeater and will be investigated by N8IYX.
  4. A social dinner is scheduled at Lunker’s for April 19th at 6:30pm.
  5. The coax wire has been installed for our equipment at the 911 center.  N8SHO will be installing the jumper and testing equipment.
  6. It was reported that 18 amateurs and 14 others were present for the Skywarn class.
  7. Michigan Week Parade is scheduled for May 19th.  A sign-up sheet will be at the next meeting.
  8. Old Business:  The callout list has been completed and will be sent out.  KC8BRO has cleaned up the database indicating member’s data, and will forward it to N8IYX.
  9. New Business:  AE8EA brought up the subject of an order for t-shirt/polo shirts with the club’s logo and individual call signs.  Further information will be presented at the next meeting.  Field Day activities were discussed.  The possible site near KC8BRO’s Grandma’s property was discussed.  No decision was made.
  10. KC8BRO showed an attenuator that was constructed.  He will share schematics for an electronic version with anyone interested.
  11. The 50/50 drawing was won by N4VHZ and donated to the club.
  12. Noel, W9EFL, presented on his Dxpeditions.  He is part of a twenty-member group that owns property on Cacao Island in the Caribbean.  A very interesting video tape of activities was shared.
