ARMS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

ELDO DENTON, W5ADT

 

 

The ARMS Spotlight this month features Eldo Dention, W5ADT, from Delaplaine, Arkansas. Eldo holds a General Class Amateur Radio license. His previous call sign was KC5MQS.

The W5ADT station includes a Yaesu FT-2800M 2-meter FM transceiver, a Yaesu FT-897D HF transceiver, an Astron RS35M power supply, a Tripp-Lite PR-25 power supply, and an MFJ-969 manual antenna tuner. Eldo's efficient antenna system includes a Cushcraft 13B2 Yagi and 37', a 3-element, homemade six-meter beam at 32', a Hustler 5-band ground plane, a double bazooka at about 25', and a Ringo Ranger 2-meter vertical at 35'. His main interest on the air is the ARMS 20-meter net.

Eldo is a born again Christian and says, "I love serving God. I enjoy teaching Sunday school class and being in the [worship] service." He also enjoys country Gospel music and plays the guitar and piano. He has a DVD of the complete Bible and listens to a couple of chapters every morning. His favorite verse of Scripture is John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Eldo is married to Shirley, his wonderful wife of forty-two years. They have two great boys.
