Dewell Corbitt

Dewell Corbitt, AI4DS, from Milledgeville, Georgia.

Dewell was first licensed in  2001 as KG4SVC. He is now an Amateur Extra Class licensee and joined ARMS in 2009. Dewell especially enjoys talking on SSB with other Christian Hams. He says he was surprised, once he got on the air, to find that so many hams were Christians. He is also a member of Ambassadors for Christ, a net that meets on Monday through Friday from 2 - 3:00 p.m. EST. He also enjoys a little PSK31. The main rig at the AI4DS station is an Icom 756 Pro III. He also has an Icom IC-718, an old Kenwood TS-430S, and a Yaesu two-meter rig. He boosts his power with an Ameritron AL-811H amplifier. His antennas include two dipoles and a long wire up about 25'. For the truck, Dewell uses an Icom IC-706MKIIG with 20- and 40-meter hamsticks.

Dewell served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968. He was a cook and, after he got out, he stayed in food service until he retired. Dewell plays the bass guitar and he and his wife, Janie, sing duets in church occasionally. They have been doing this ever since they were married. She plays the piano for the services and also teaches the adult Sunday school class. Dewell and Janie have been married for over 40 years now and have one married son who is in law enforcement. He lives approximately 25 miles away.

Dewell's favorite Bible verse is taken from Psalm 19:14. "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer."
