event is in memory of Alessandro
Volta, the inventor of the Electric Battery,
Teacher of Experimental Physics at University
of Pavia since 1778.

The Italian Radio Amateur Association Pavia Group, to give a tribute to the memory of the great scientist, has estabilished the Volta Memorial Day Award. All OMs/YLs/SWLs from Italy and abroad are welcome. The event is held every year since 1999, on February 18th and on the closest weekend, according to the following table:

Allowed bands are 2m, 6m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 40m - no WARC.
Valid modes are CW, SSB, digital
a QSO will be considered valid upon exchange of RS(T)
Volta Memorial Station will call "CQ Volta de II2PV" (SSB) o "CQ V de II2PV" (CW)
In order to be eligible for the Award, the Volta Memorial Station will have to be contacted two times in two different days (no matter which band or mode).
Starting from 2003 a Special Award will be made available to whom will contact the Volta Memorial Station only in CW mode.
SWL are subject to the same rules and scoring than OM/YL, with the only difference that they will have to specify the time of the QSO heard and the RS(T) of both the QSO end-points.
The Award Certificate, a beautiful painting of Volta, will be sent to the eligible OMs that will send their signed LOG, together with € 5.00 (S&H fee), by March 31st, 2003 to the Pavia Group:
