100 Years of Relativity

ARI Pavia Group “I2RRG Angelo Arrigoni”, after the days dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Theory of Relativity, estabilishes a permanent award titled:

Spacetime in Action
100 Years of Relativity

The award is written on papyrus (cm 21 x cm 29,8) and can be achieved by hams and SWL which give evidence of contacts for a total score of 300 pts with the cities listed below; only contacts made after April 17th, 1995 are valid.

• Ulm - pts 100 – (Einstein birthplace, on March 14th, 1879)
• Munchen– pts 20 – (family relocation – 1881 – attends elementary school 1884-1888 – attends Luitpold Gymnasium)
• Milan– pts 20 – (1895 family relocation from Munchen, later they move to Pavia to startup an electric appliances factory)
• Pavia – pts 80 – (1895 - home in via Foscolo, 11 and workshop Einstein Garrone & C. in Viale Partigiani.)
• Casteggio – pts 120 –(short stays of the family as guests in villa Marangoni).
• Aarau – pts 50 – (graduated from cantonal school)
• Bern– pts 20 – (1902 clerk at the Patent Office as "3rd class Technical Expert" – in February 1908 he starts teaching at University).
• Geneve– pts 20 – (1909 gets graduated "honoris causa").
• Zurich– pts 20 – (October 15th, 1909 associated professor at University – 1911/1912 works with Grossman on the formal aspects of the new Theory of Relativity).
• Saltzburg– pts 20 – (1909 attends a conference where he presents two papers on the radiation of a black body).
• Prague– pts 20 – (he is appointed professor at the University by emperor Franz Joseph on April, 1st 1911).
• Berlin– pts 20 – (1914 he moves with the family– 1924 listed in the Jewish Community)
• Caputh – pts 70 – (convalescence and sailing)
• Pasadena – pts 60 – (1931/1932 at the California Institute of Technology).
• Princeton – pts 100 - (1932 at the Institute of Advanced Studies – moves here from New York on October 17th, 1933 – dies here in April 1955, during the night between 17th and 18th)
• Le-Cog-Sur-Mer – pts 40 – (1933 he comes back to Europe and lives on the Belgian coast)
• New York – pts 20 – (arrives in New York on October 17th, 1933 with a tourist visa)
• Trenton – pts 30 – (October 2nd, 1940 becaomes US citizen in front of Judge Phillip Forman – April 18th, 1955 he is cremated and the ashes are dispelled in a secret place)

To achieve the score of 300 pts the same cities cannot be worked more than three times, and always with different ham.
The Log attached to the award application must show at least one QSO with the city of Pavia.
The award is available in the following versions: CW, SSB, Digi and mixed , on all bands.
Those who will prove to have worked 10, 14 or 18 cities, will be entitled to require the award printed on canvas and framed.
Crossmode or crossband QSOs are not valid.
Copies of the confirmation QSLs, as well as a signed declaration that all the QSOs have been done from its own station, in the respect of the license band limits are required for application. The declaration must be signed by two members of the same HAM group.
The Award Manager has the right to check the authenticity of the QSLs.
The score table of the award and the updates will be published on Radio Rivista and on the website www.qsl.net/aripv

The application must enclose € 10,00 (ten euros), or € 20,00 (twenty euros) for the canvas, framed varsion; it is possible to enclose an equivalent amount in US dollars, based on the current exchange rate, rounded up. The amount covers the print expenses and the shipment through priority mail.
