This is the Nassau County Amateur Radio Emergency
Service weekly net. This net meets
every Monday evening at 8:00 PM local time, for the purposes of disseminating
information and to provide training for local amateur radio operators in
emergency and public service communications. Nassau County ARES has provided
urgently needed emergency communications services for more than twenty years,
serving Nassau County, the American Red Cross, and other agencies, as well as
supporting surrounding jurisdictions in times of need.
We welcome and encourage all amateur operators to
check into the net, whether they are members of ARES or not. In the event of a declared or undeclared
emergency, all available operators are asked to stand by on this frequency for
instructions. You may also check into this net via APRS through NY3H-1 on
144.390 Mhz or, via Packet through N2RQ on 145.010 Mhz. APRS and Packet
stations can check in at anytime during the course of the voice net. Check-ins
will be announced by each of the digital net control stations prior to the end
of this net. This is a directed net, and as such all transmissions are made
through Net Control. The net will call
for stations to check in using three separate groups. Please check in when your call sign group is called, and list any
