Nassau County ARES Meeting Information

Nassau County ARES holds regularly scheduled meetings once each month. (SEE BELOW)

All interested amateur radio operators are invited to attend, whether they are members of ARES or not.

ARES meetings are held at 7:30PM on the FOURTH THURSDAY of the month.

Meeting location: NASSAU COUNTY SENIOR CITIZEN ACTIVITIES CENTER - EISENHOWER PARK

Use entrance to Park at west side at Stewart Av and Merrick Av- take first right, then left, follow road to building.

Upon entering the building, look for meeting room off to the right

American Red Cross Responds to ARRL Concerns Regarding Background Checks (May 18, 2008) -- In November 2007, ARRL President Joel Harrison, W5ZN, wrote to the American Red Cross (ARC) regarding concerns voiced by ARRL volunteers. In 2006, the Red Cross stated it would implement background checks that included, among other things, a credit check and a "mode of living" check for its staff and volunteers, including ARES volunteers providing services to the Red Cross during disasters. ARRL saw these portions of the background check as unneeded and inappropriate for ARES service.
