FIELD DAY:
The Amateur Radio Club of Savannah is participating in the annual ARRL Field Day Exercise this coming weekend...Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28. We will begin setting up after 9am Saturday morning at the National Guard Recreation Pavilion on Darque Ave. just off Dean Forest Rd (aka 307) near the airport. You will make a turn (on the side of the Donut Connection building) away from the airport on Darque. You will encounter a military check-point, which will probaly ask to see a valid ID/drivers license. There will be a talk-in station to help get you to the Field Day Site. Those who help with the setup will be treated to lunch. We will need 3 - 4 HF Transceivers, 6 meter radio, a 2 meter FM radio, 2 meter antenna, good charged storage batteries, battery chargers, and operators. We will also need people to help set up and take down the antennas and equipment. We have a selection of antennas, but if you have a antenna that you wish to use for Field Day, by all means bring it. If you have a special type radio you want to operate...bring it. There will be a 50-50 drawing with proceeds going to ARCS. There will also be a place to sell your surplus equipment, (with a percentage of the sale going to the ARCS treasury.) There will be a covered dish dinner Saturday evening. If you plan to attend, please try to bring a covered dish. Soft Drinks will also be needed. Email me, and I will post what everyone else is bringing to minimize duplication. Please also mention how many people in your family will be participating in the dinner meal. Two Fried turkeys will be cooked on the site and will be the primary meat......Other meats are OK to bring to have a variety. Beth Ann and I will provide paper plates, napkins, and utinsils. For those who stayed overnight and operated there will be a breakfast casserole and orange juice for breakfast Sunday morning. Email me if you plan to attend, what equipment you will be bringing and if you are going eat dinner Saturday evening with us, what covered dish meal will you be bringing.
There will also be a a special Humvee Communications station setup and on-the-air.
Thanks,
Andy Blackburn, WD4AFY
