October 8, 1998 ARCARS Meeting

The October meeting was called to order with 11 members present.

Motion: to accept the minutes from the September meeting by Gene (NA8I), seconded by Victor (WD8DWR), and accepted.

Treasures Report: Suzanne reported that the club still has $1,047.96 remaining in the account.

Motion: to accept the Treasures Report by Victor, seconded by Suzanne (KB8GFY), and accepted.

Fund Raising: efforts are on hold, however we still have some projects that will require additional funding. We have learned that two appropriations have been made to the American Red Cross that have been designated to be used for the tower project and feed lines.

NET: The 146.800 ARCARS Net attendance is lagging once again. Paul (KG8OU) urged that everyone make an effort to check into the weekly net at 8PM. Paul went on to urge that other members should also act as net controller once in a while also. Discussion indicated that attendance on the 147.300 net has enjoyed fairly good participation. A possible reason is could be that it is held every evening at 9:30. A suggestion was made to make an announcement on that net on Monday’s to invite attendance to the ARCARS net.

Club Project: The crystals are expected to arrive in couple of weeks. Shortly after we will be arranging the modification and tuning of the Motorola radios.

Club Station: We still need the 9 to 25 pin cable for the computer packet station. We need a manual and schematic for the Heathkit SB 102 HF Radio. The SB 102 has also been discovered to be missing from the radio room. It is unclear if a member is repairing it or possibly unlawfully removed.

Old Business: The cement and the lower section of the tower is to be delivered and installed at the Red Cross building, thanks to generous contributions to the cause. Local architects will oversee the project.

New Business: A security camera is to be installed at the door for the lower level of the Red Cross building with a monitor just inside and another installed in the lower level.

Election Results: The officers from last year have been unanimously re-elected to serve another term.
