18:56 EST:  Reported chemical spill on the Blue Water Bridge with unknown casualties.  The Red Cross Disaster Services Team and Mobile Canteen assembled for assistance.


19:02 EST: Net brought up by the American Red Cross Amateur Radio Service (ARCARS) under the direction of Mark Edwards.  Several members and volunteers had already assembled at the Chapter House (Command Center) the packet station and the 2-meter station were manned and additional local check-ins were logged in and invited to join in with the exercise.  Additional volunteers began to arrive at the Command Center and others monitored from their homes awaiting further details with nation wide and international communication abilities should they be required.

19:11 EST It was decided that a shelter site be set up at the Colonial Woods Missionary Church.  Volunteers are on their way to that site, (corner of Sanborn and Pine Grove Ave).

19:21 EST The first team arrived at the church with a couple of volunteers, a nurse, and a couple of radio operators under the direction of Jackie Meyers.

19:24 EST The shelter trailer arrived at the church.

19:37 EST The teams were setting up tables and beginning to attend incoming clients.

19:42 EST From the Shelter: reports that 6 clients were being attended.  One with a broken leg, one with an injured knee, two had chemical burns on their faces and were blind, one with a shoulder injury, and two with chemical burns on their skin.

19:58 EST From Command Center: message to Don Smith to consider setting up a second shelter at the Port Huron Northern High School to accommodate up to 200 people.

19:59 EST Don Smith required three more volunteers and an additional vehicle to arrive at the shelter in a half-hour.

20:01 EST From Shelter site: call for additional vehicles and volunteers will be needed to set up the Northern shelter.

20:04 EST From Command Center: Directive not to set up the Northern shelter.

20:05 EST From Command Center: Keep the shelter open for 15 more minutes.

20:13 EST From Shelter: Request for animal assistance at 1234 Griswold for four cats and a 4' alligator.

20:17 EST From Shelter: Orders to pack up and move to a new unknown shelter location.

20:19 EST Radio operators were assigned with Mark Paltier, and to travel with the Mobile Canteen. 

20:24 EST From Shelter: notice to Jim that the Nextel phone/radios were not responding.

20:26 EST From Command Center: shelter to be dismantled and moved to Command Center at 715
                  Pine St.

20:26 EST  Mobile Canteen returning.

20:28 EST Primary shelter secured and locked.

20:31 EST Emergency Services Trailer returning.

20:32 EST All remaining vehicles returning.

20:39 EST All units returned and reported at the Command Center.
