CLUB STATION: The problem with the shortened coax for the Red Cross tower has been addressed. Last month work was done on the antennas and one of the feed lines was damaged and was shortened in length. Mark and Andrew reported that we have a new piece of feed line and it will be put into use at the next opportunity. This work will allow the antennas to be raised on the tower for extended reception. Paul (KG8OU) made some pvc standoff’s for the tower.

NEWSLETTER: Mark (N8EGJ) added a RSS feed to the qsl web site. Our newsletter and web pages remain available. www.qsl.net & www.arcars.us are posted to the Internet. We have a wealth of information available on the websites.

CLUB PROJECT: The old communication trailer has been decommissioned. The Red Cross is looking into a replacement. Paul reported that the Field Day HF Beam has a problem with the 15M traps. It still works on 10M and 20M.

OLD BUSINESS: All Red Cross volunteers must re-certify in CPR and First Aid. Andrew believes that there will be training available sometime in July and will keep us posted on a date. New ID cards are being ordered.

NEW BUSINESS: Andrew reported that ARCARS anticipated participating in Operation Care for Memorial Day; however permits from DOT were not completed in time. He showed the group the banner we will use in Operation Care for July 4, & Labor Day. Sign up sheets will be passed at the next meeting for volunteers. Operation Care is a four day program over specific summer holidays. Normally they run from Friday through Monday.

A written email from Rodger (N8SVR) was passed around the meeting. It is regarding an exercise called "Vigilant Guardian" that is scheduled for this August. This event evidently involves Oakland, Macomb and St. Clair Counties and 23 hospitals. More information will follow soon.

DX SPOTS/ SPECIAL EVENTS: Paul reported that he worked 12 Museum Ships last weekend. He reported 6M has been open making several contacts to the southern states. Mike (N8MIC) said that a group of amateurs from Adrian operated the Lightship station and made over 400 contacts. Tom (W8TRC) reported that the solar flux has been around 70 lately; this indicates that we are at the bottom of the current solar cycle. However he made mentioned that 10M has been open sporadically to the southern states. He made contacts to Germany, Sweden, and Hungary on 20M.
