Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order with 14 members and guests present.

MOTION to accept the May minutes by Victor (WD8DWR), seconded by Andrew, accepted.

TREASURES REPORT:

Suzanne reported that our balance stands at $332.13.

MOTION to accept Treasures Report by Kip (KB8WWH), seconded by Victor.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Field Day once again was the dominant issue on the agenda. The location this year is at the Northgate Bible Church 4311 Pine Grove Avenue in Fort Gratiot. Suzanne (KB8GFY) offered to donate the cost of the porta-john for the event this year. She will contact the appropriate people to see that it is delivered. Kip (KB8WWH) was unable to contact Jim Relkin to coordinate a Red Cross mock disaster with the field day activities. Kip did say that gas for the generators is available as it is desired to use the old gas before it becomes stale. . Dennis (KB8OCG) is responsible for contacting the local media.

Victor offered to contact Gene (NA8I) regarding the power distribution sub stations and system.

FIELD DAY PREPAIRATION:

On Friday June 22nd at 2pm tower erection and antenna system assembly will begin. All members able to assist in assembly are encouraged to arrive a little earlier, as tents and the power distribution system used by the campers can be set up earlier. Everyone is encouraged to bring lanterns with fuel to help illuminate the area. If you have a camera you might wish to bring it along also. Always need are; extension cords, power strips, pencils, flashlights and any other common camping gear. Remember to plainly mark your possessions with your call sign/name so you get it back during pack up. Food is always welcome. Mark and Steven (KC8PGE) are bringing hamburgers and Kip and Shannon (KC8DVT) are supplying hot dogs and his grill for cooking and a trash receptacle. Victor and Judy (KA8APM) plan to bring some corn on the cob. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to pass if possible for the Saturday evening dinner at approximately 6pm.

DISASTER REPORT:

There were no disasters that required ARCARS assistance reported for May.

CLUB STATION:

Everything at the station is working well. Some of the equipment will be field tested at Field Day.

NEWSLETTER:

The DX report that was discussed at the May meeting will appear at the end of the meeting minutes each month.

CLUB PROJECT:

All club project efforts have been diverted to Field Day.

OLD BUSINESS:

DX SPOTS/ SPECIAL EVENTS

Paul (KG8OU) reported that he just received a rare qsl card from 5A1A (one of the only stations active in Libya.
