CLUB PROJECT: Field Day was held June 28th. Our set up was at the St Clair County Park in Goodells MI. Camping began on Thursday June 26th. Once again it was decided that we would focus on operating a set up similar to one that we would erect in an actual emergency. We decided to use generated power and set up a power distribution system to provide AC to the stations. We had a a 6M / VHF station as well as HF voice and CW stations. This year we utilized a wireless network set up to log our contacts. Our shelters included the military truck, our newly donated newspaper truck and the communication trailer.

The turnout was good. We had plenty of radio operators available and made a good number of contacts. The weather was a mixed bag of conditions. Friday afternoon we observed a large store pass just to the north. We saw wall clouds and developing funnel clouds. Fortunately these did not develop into tornadoes in the nearby areas. The rest of the weekend saw a couple storms, but we had enough fair weather in between to make the event a success.

Many thanks to all that worked so hard to make the event successful. The equipment went up and down without trouble and the food was excellent. We are also very grateful for the use of the County Park once again this year.
