Santa Claus was heard on the air on 6 meters over the holiday. There was also a pre-teen day held on the air to acquaint young people with amateur radio. Locally the event was heard on the 147.320 repeater as well as on the HF bands.
DISASTER REPORT:
There was a house fire with fatalities. The amateur radio team was not called out for this occurrence.
NET REPORT: Paul (KG8OU) reported that the weekly nets have averaged about 11 check-ins with a high count of 16 between the holidays.
CLUB STATION:
The equipment for the club station is working satisfactorily at this time.
NEWSLETTER:
No newsletter additions were reported at the meeting.
CLUB PROJECT:
A mobile antenna was installed in the Command Center on a uni-strut support structure attached to the tower. This allows repeater contact from the Command Center as opposed to operating from the lower level radio room.
OLD BUSINESS:
The topic of equipment insurance was once again brought up. We have not been able to secure the ARRL after exhaustive efforts on our part. It was suggested that the secretary draft another letter/e-mail regarding our frustration in this matter be sent to the ARRL and carbon copied to the editor of QST. The idea of securing the insurance from a local agent was supported in the event that we are unsuccessful with the ARRL program.
The 2 meter radio with power supply in a lockable cabinet has been installed on a table in the Command Center. Andrew (KC8SPD) is to secure a combination padlock for the cabinet. That should prevent unauthorized personnel from using amateur radio equipment.
NEW BUSINESS:
The ARRL Annual Report is due. This report must be completed to maintain our association. We currently hold a Special Services Club status with the league. The secretary will complete this detail.
