ARCARS

August 5, 2001

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order with 5 members and guests present.

MOTION to accept the June minutes by Andrew, seconded by Kip (KB8WWH), accepted.

TREASURES REPORT:

Suzanne was absent, our last report our balance stood at $332.13.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Last notes on Field Day. Everything has been stored once again in preparation of next year’s event or a major local disaster that may require a setup of that size. The Northgate Bible Church was gracious to allow us to use their property and pleased with our clean up efforts. In essence the event went very well!

DISASTER REPORT:

There were no disasters that required ARCARS assistance reported in July.

CLUB STATION:

Everything is working well except Gene (NA8I) is working on the 220mhz-packet repeater station power supply. The new GD7-144 Hustler Repeater antenna has been installed and the sensitivity of the repeater system has been enhanced. Mark (N8EGJ) mentioned that we should entertain the idea of moving our 144mhz-packet activity to 145.090. The idea is to join the majority of stations that use packet in the Blue Water Area. This matter will be decided upon at future meetings.

NEWSLETTER:

Mark has posted the new Field Day photos to the website. They are located in the Gallery link on the page. www.bignet.net/~arcars/clubpics.htm

CLUB PROJECT:

There was no discussion about plans for club projects at the meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:

We had a discussion about the insurance for the repeater system again. While brainstorming we came up with an idea that may work and get additional coverage for other hi-tech equipment that is located at the repeater site. A rider on the existing policy that covers the property may be in order and ARCARS would pay the portion of the increased premium that would cover our equipment.

NEW BUSINESS:

There will be a camping outing at the Lakeport State Park on September 14th through the 16th. A potluck dinner is planned for Saturday the 15th at 5pm. If you plan to attend please RSVP by August 15th by sending an email to dgpatrick@bignet.net

We have decided to support the JOTA (Jamboree on the Air) again this October. We will discuss this event further at future meetings.

MOTION TO ADJOURN by Kip, seconded by Andrew.
