General Membership Meeting April 1998

Roll Call: Meeting came to order at 7:28 pm 9 people present

Minutes: Motion to accept made by Kipp, Kb8wwh seconded by Brock, Kb8wwg. Supported by the group.

Treasurer's Report: Treasurers report $ 1197.96

Motions: Motion to accept minutes made by Brock, Kb8wwg seconded by Ed Spore. Supported by the group. Projects: Na8i has a 440 transmitter and receiver that can be configured as a voice repeater or a simplex link to be added to 146.800 rpt or it could be put at the repeater site to use as a digipeater. Discussion will be needed at the next meeting and a vote from members to decide what we would like to do. Call up project: We might be able to get some older pagers and convert them for the call up use. Dennis Kb8ocg said he would try to get one to gene Na8i to see if we can put them on another freq. and see if we can get them to respond. The question on Broadcasting infringement of FCC rules was Proposed to the FCC and ruled that a transmission used as an emergency call up for hams to respond to and monitored by swl's would not be against FCC rules on broadcasting. Mark N8egj did the research. Thank you Mark.

Tower project: The tower project is still on hold.

Phone line transfer: Information on the phone line transfer was not available.

Mark was not at the meeting. Club insurance: Looking into specific insurance for liability, event, and tower climbing and equipment concerns. The reason for this insurance is to protect members and other people that frequent exercises that the club might do on a moments notice. The concern being that if there was no time to petition the Red Cross for event coverage and sanction that we would be insured. Mock disaster: Remember Mock Disasters can pop up any time so please be ready to assist when a callup occurs. Field Day: Last full weekend in June is field day weekend. It looks like we will have it at the Reid farm in Avoca. More discussion at the next meeting.
