Watermelon Mountain Pony Club horse trials - April 2-3, 2005. Saturday will be at the fairgrounds. On Sunday the events will be held at the Boca Negra complex on the west side. Communications could probably be done on 2 meter simplex with HTs.We have been asked to provide 7 hams on Saturday and 12 on Sunday. If anyone is interested in this event, please let me know whether you would care to work on Sunday only, Saturday only, or both days. When I see from your responses what kind of resources we have to deal with, I will determine what if anything we can do to support this event.
Tricentennial Half Marathon - April 16, 2005. This 13-mile run will start at Coronado State Monument in Bernalillo and end at Balloon Park in Albuquerque. Start time is 6:30 a.m. There will be multiple aid stations. We need to cover the aid stations and possibly other points on the course and provide communications for race officials, support vehicles, and medical personnel.
I would estimate at least 10 hams will be needed for this event. We will probably use 2 meter mobile radios and some handhelds.
Santa Fe Century - May 15 This is a well organized 100-mile bike tour. The route generally runs south from Santa Fe through Madrid on 14 and 344 to Cedar Grove, 472 to Stanley, 41 and 553 through Galisteo to I-25 and then returns to Santa Fe. There are plenty of opportunities for assignments as a mobile unit or at a rest stop with varying time requirements.
