ANCHORAGE ARES NET SCRIPT

This is (my callsign), net control for the Anchorage ARES net. The ARES net meets every Thursday evening at 8:00PM on 147.90/.30. The ARES net includes Newsline and Swap 'n' Shop, and is followed by the PARKA net. ARES stands for Amateur Radio Emergency Service and is an organization of amateur radio volunteers. ARES is activated upon occurrence of a disaster in which ordinary communications fail. ARES is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League and any interested amateur may participate. You need not be a member of ARRL in order to participate in ARES.

Tonight the ARES net is located at:

1) The MOA's (Municipality of Anchorage) EOC (Emergency Operations Center) which is in Fire Station #12, at 1301 E. 80th Avenue.

2) American Red Cross, Eighth and Cordova in downtown Anchorage.

Emergency HF frequencies are as follows:

14.292 Mhz - The Alaska Pacific Net, used for welfare and priority traffic.
3.920 Mhz - The state frequency for emergency use.

If the 147.90/.30 repeater is out during an emergency, 147.30 or 146.52 simplex will be used unless instructed otherwise.
