Introduction

The Hawaii Police Department is the principal law enforcement agency for the county of Hawaii. It is responsible for enforcing all federal, state, and local laws for a resident population of about 159,000.

Radio Communications

Hawaii Police uses a 10-channel conventional VHF radio system. In early 2004, the county unveiled plans to construct a countywide P25 trunked radio system by 2011.
