I work full time at Honolulu International Airport with Hawaiian Airlines, the largest airline in the state of Hawaii.
When I first started at Hawaiian Airlines, DC-9s like the one pictured below were used for
interisland air travel.

In 2000 & 2001 the DC-9s were retired and a brand new interisland fleet of Boeing 717s was introduced.

For transpacific routes, gleaming silver DC-10s have been the signature trademark of Hawaiian Airlines for years. Despite their advanced age and healthy appetite for air fuel, the DC-10s bring back many happy nonrevenue travel memories for me; I was saddened to hear of their eventual retirement and replacement with new Boeing 767s beginning in late 2001. The picture of the DC-10 below is how Hawaiian Airlines will always remain in my heart.

Honolulu's Reef Runway. Completed in 1977, it was the world's first major airport runway built entirely over water.

From the roof of our office building we have an amazing view of Honolulu,
the airport runways,
and the mountains that line the city to the north.

My modest work room locker. And yes, I really did vote for Bu. Twice.

Down the street from our office is a buidling with a beautiful larger-than-life mural by Wyland,
even more spectacular because there's a different design on each side.

These planes look a lot bigger when you're standing underneath one!
