The charming little city of San Jose del Cabo and the mega resort area of Cabo San Lucas are collectively known as Los Cabos. The very southern tip of the Baja California peninsula has equal parts old colonial history and modern hedonism. Spectacular natural rock formations combine with indigenous local culture to make this a many-faceted locale with a little something for everybody. I based myself in San Jose del Cabo to get more immersion into the local scene than probably would have been possible otherwise had I chose instead to surround myself with tourists.
