National HF Voice Net Manager Messages

November 12, 2008 Gentlemen, Attendance on the Transcon Voice nets has been less than stellar lately, probably due in part to the poor propagation. I also am inclined to believe that many of our affiliate stations are not aware that they are both welcome and needed on the Transcon Voice Nets. I would sincerely appreciate a few "free commercials" on your region nets to encourage members to check into our voice nets. These nets operate in voice mode only, daily, Monday through Friday from 16:00 to 22:00Z on Frequency TVE. Your cooperation in letting your affiliates know about the Transcon Voice Nets will be helpful. As you know, the Transcon nets are the primary liaison nets between our Region nets and stations in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the CONUS. Transcon also operates the USAF MARS Digital nets using MFSK and MT63 1000 modes. Traffic can be handled by voice or digital modes by accessing Transcon on frequency TVE in voice mode only. We currently have both USAF MARS and Army MARS stations acting as net control stations. These nets are open for all MARS stations of all services, as well as SHARES and Federal agency stations. Gentlemen, As you know, we experienced some severe interference on the Space Net this week. Since we lost 6 of our WSDN frequencies, we have been pretty much stuck with WSDN5-period! In the event that we experience interference in the future that persists and does interfere with net activities, during our Saturday drill or a Shuttle launch or recovery I want to make several alternate frequencies available for the Space Net. Frequency TVE is available on week ends, since we do not have Transcon voice nets on the weekends. If we need to shift during a week day for a launch or recovery, then you can use TVF. For any evening or night operations you can use TPG courtesy of the manned digital net Manager AFN4DM. You may want to notify the NCSs that we normally use for the space net that these frequencies are available when needed. Best 73's, and if I do not have a photo shoot the 6th I will see you on the net for the shuttle launch. Claude AFN4VN/AFA4BR
