- California State Air Force MARS is part of Region 9
and encompasses the entire State. Within our State, Air Force (AF) MARS
includes several VHF repeaters that support both AF and ARMY (A) MARS
VHF activities and many individual HF Stations which participate in
voice, digital, and ALE nets in support of our DOD missions.
- We have one base support team (BST) located at Travis
AFB in FairField, Ca. The facility includes several antennas and
supports AF an A MARS activities as well as others that the Air Force
determines are necessary.
- Members are highly skilled in radio communication
including voice and digital capability. When you think AIR FORCE, you
should think high tech and the same applies to MARS. We utilize special
computer generated modes and follow military standard procedures to
assure the messages get through to there destination. Our members are
highly skilled at radio and computer hardware and software
implementation utilization.
- When you join AF MARS, you will begin a training
program that can last up to six months depending on individual ability
with the culmination your entry into the AF MARS as a full member.
Training does not end there. Each of us continually trains to acquire
enhanced communication skills in order to support the increasing
alignment between MARS and DOD processes.
- So if your looking for a way to support your Country
during times of National Crisis and have a thirst to enhance your radio
and computer capabilities, AF MARS is for you. We put our training to
the test at least four times a year in National Communication Exercises
where we interface with the Amateur Radio community to get the
information requested of us by the Military. After all, each of us
working together makes up the Military Auxiliary Radio System.
