Subject: [rgn4_pactor] Region 4 HF Packet link to the Pactor BBS system

The region 4 pactor gateway station now has a packet HF transceiver
linked to the Pactor BBS 24/7.  The packet callsign is the same as the
pactor call  AFD4MC.  The current antenna does not have a good match
but does work with strong signals.

The system will enable those without Pactor TNCs to post messages on
the system and retreive messages and bulletins.  It should also allow
those without TNCs but who have PC sound card packet to access the
system.  I will not autoforward any traffic/bulletins on the packet
channel since it is very slow.  You may pick up traffic and bulletins
manually.  For the present time the packet transceiver is fixed on
frequency TPI.  Once I get a better antenna up, I may add scanning and
include RJ and RL.

Please forward this info to other rgn 4 affiliates as well as your
Army and Navy MARS friends.  I would like to get maximum use on this
channel for testing purposes.

Please provide me some feedback on how the system is working direct to
my e-mail at afa4fn@cox.net.

If you need info on the frequency, send me a request at afa4fn@cox.net
and I will forward the frequency list to you.

Regards -- Terry AFA4FN
