Apparently they don't want you to drive down the abandoned section of Farm to Market Road 529 in Harris County (near Houston), Texas. The end of the road stops at the abandoned railroad crossing which is now a mess of twisted steel and concrete barriers.

Another abandoned railroad crossing - this one is actually standing a few feet 180 degrees from the first photo. However, just by moving a few feet you can see that the pavement is now gone.

FM 529 has very few sections of old highway, but I found this one out in the countryside in a quiet area among farms. I think the road was straightened out on a curve, leaving this abandoned section.

Here's the other end. I think originally that FM 529 was square and then had a 90 degree turn to meet the other road. It could also be that it was a local county road predating the highway. Whatever, the case, the old section is paved and looks like old highway.
This is a building in the space between the old highway and the new. If you live in a rural area, you might go somewhere like this to vote. The area near here has beautiful rolling hills and is absolutely beautiful when bluebonnets are growing.
