Ok, it is time to wind up. This is my current station. It has two computers. One is running my HF packet BBS. The other does everything else, including VHF packet, MFSK16, HF Pactor, and any other mode used in any MARS service. The first is an old DOS laptop, and the second is a 800 MHz Pentium 3 running Win98SE. These are throw away computers today.
I did upgrade this year so I could run MARS-ALE SE.
I have tried to convey to you an understanding of AF MARS digital operations. Right now only one in ten of our stations is utilizing that potential. We need more of you to take up this challenge and join us. You can begin by just using your computer with soundcard and appropriate software to monitor what is going on now.
Then, you can set up for full communications with a little more effort. I have 20 CDs with digital software here. Thanks go to Bob Rothman, AFA2AJ for this gift. Please, let them go to folks who have limited internet access, and cannot easily download this software at home. Thank you. QUESTIONS ???
