I am Joe, AF5D, and a member of Radio Operators Of South Texas (ROOST). - I have lived in San Antonio, Texas almost 40 years.

I was born on a small farm in the Ozarks of Southeast Missouri in 1929. - I graduated from high school and started college at Flat River Junior College in 1948. - I was first licenced 1948 as W0RLM. - I taught eight grades in a country school in 1950 and in 1951 I went into the US Army and served in the Signal Corps in Korea.

After discharge from the military in 1953 I returned and went to work for the Missouri Illinois Railroad as a clerk but electronics called so I moved to Texas in 1954 and went to Port Arthur College radio school and in 1955 joined the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a communications technician in Houston, Texas.

In 1956 I moved to San Antonio and soon thereafter married Ruby Gene Culpepper. - She is now N5UIN,and we have a daughter, Kathryn, and two sons, Keith and Karl. - Karl is licensed as WB5WAM. - We have six grandchildren.

I retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1988 after heart surgery and I stay busy with my radios and computer on the INTERNET and E-MAIL. I have operated all bands, 440 MHZ and down. - I have taught Ham classes, participated in many ham activities, built and tested equipment and antennas. - I have operated mobile PHONE, CW and DIGITAL. I work SSB, CLOVER, AND PACTOR FROM MY HOME STATION.- I have a 2 METER REPEATER. - I am on the Internet. - Thanks for reading this. 73, - Joe
