K0KI - Six Sparks and A Gap

- At the Field Day site, 10,500 ft in the mountains west of Denver, CO.

- Gary, KN0V operating CW. He drove 900 miles from Minnesota
for Field Day in the Colorado Rocky Mtns! Gary and I operated our
first ARRL Field Day in 1969.
- John, K4ZI trying to keep the little generator running, used for lights in the
"kitchen" area of camp.. Our 100w HF station runs off deep-cycle
batteries and a solar panel..
- It gets cold at night when you're TWO MILES HIGH in the Rockies,
so we always have a blazing campfire (KN0V, K0KI).
- At our FD site there's plenty of room for other recreational activities ...
- On the highway after FD, Quandary Peak (14,265 ft), near the top of Hoosier
Pass. This is the west side of the Continental Divide, south of Dillon, CO.
Station Equipment: TS-450S, AT-11 auto-tuner, Heathkit 4:1 Balun, laptop
running TR LOG by N6TR software, various keyers, wire Vee-beam 350 ft
long on each leg (aimed E/W).
K0KI - Final Score 1998 (Class 1A):
1287 QSO's (900 cw, 387 ssb) + bonus pts = 5266 points.
