First, make sure your Windows has the multimedia video compression installed. Here's how to check it: Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double click on Add/Remove Programs. Click on the Windows Setup tab. Go down to Multimedia and double click there. Make sure there's a checkmark in "Video Compression." Click OK or Close on all of the windows to exit afterward. Reinstall DirectX6 from the CD as follows: Click on Start, Run, and put in "d:\directx\directx6\directx\dxsetup.exe" (where "d:" is your CDROM drive letter) and click OK. Click on the button that says "Reinstall DirectX." During the installation, it may ask you whether it should update certain drivers. Generally, answer Yes on anything it "recommends." If there is anything where it says "not recommended", then you should probably say no, UNLESS it's asking about updating the sound drivers. If it asks about updating the sound or audio drivers, definitely say Yes to update them. Then let it restart Windows afterward. Try to run Teletubbies again. ========================== Supposed to be 11 nursery rhymes in here (according to the back of the case). The rhymes are listed in the Help section for the program. See page 13 of the booklet. Go outside, look for a blue clump of grass and interact with it; then interact with the object that appears, then with the voice trumpet that appears after that, and then you get one of the nursery rhymes. ------------------------------------ "What's That? Activity: In this activity, you can help your Teletubby notice and name an object that appears in Teletubbyland. Then you can enable the Teletubby to follow it around the landscape. You are rewarded at the end with a nursery rhyme that relates to the object." ==================== In main program, either no sound at all once inside, or very slow speed sound. SOLUTION: Reinstall DirectX6 from the CD as follows. Click on Start, Run, and put in "d:\directx\directx6\directx\dxsetup.exe" (where "d:" is your CDROM drive letter) and click OK. ============================= Video playback problem: We have experienced some problems with computers using the Cirrus Logic chipset GD5465. This can cause a failure to play the videos in the Play With the Teletubbies. This problem would come to your attention when you select a Teletubby to play the video insert in the TV Receiver Event. During normal play, the close-up of the Teletubby’s tummy would show a video insert. If the videos do not play, it may be due to this incompatible chipset. Cirrus Logic has now developed drivers that should solve the problem. For further information, please contact your computer manufacturer or go to the Cirrus Logic website: www.cirrus.com ========================= Customer was getting kicked just after the "Time for Teletubbies" was said. She had a AST, Win98, S3 Trio 32/64 Trio card. Solution: DX6 didn't help. Checked for Video Compression, added that to her Windows Setup, program runs now. ====================== TELETUBBIES 2 Requires Pentium 90, 16 MB RAM. Uses Quicktime4. d:\quicktime\ Beware of optimistic 486 owners, this program does not seem to have a processor validator like the other one did. Registry: HKLM/Soft/KA/Teletubbies2 Directory: c:\KA\Tubbies2 Icons go into Playzone group. The exit instructions (that the customers never read of course) are on page 3 of the manual. Click on windmill in lower right corner to get to main menu, then hit Esc. If anyone comes across a customer who cannot exit from Teletubbies 2 (not the original "Play with the Teletubbies") in Windows 98, it could be because they have a multi-function keyboard. In other words, their keyboard has extra buttons such as CD player controls, volume, Internet and e-mail buttons. To exit Teletubbies 2, you need to go to the Main Menu, press the Escape key and click Yes to exit. Alt-F4 should also work however, there have been a few incidents where neither works apparently because of the keyboard. Ctrl-Alt-Del is the only way to exit the program in this case. In one situation, on a new Compaq computer, I ran "msconfig", went to the Startup tab and unchecked "cpqezacc" (basically Compaq Easy Access Buttons), clicked OK, restarted and was able to exit from the game properly from both the Main Menu and using Alt-F4. The customer had previously only used the "Internet" button and none of the other ones. However, even after disabling the "cpqezacc" from Startup, the "Internet" button still worked. Just remember, for Teletubbies 2 and cannot exit properly in Win98, disable multi-function keyboard from Startup. If you can't determine which specific line is the multi-function keyboard driver, try disbling all of the items before restarting. ======================= Teletubbies 2 - Invalid page fault in MSCVRT.dll Solution: Reinstall directx via cdroot:\directx\directx\dxsetup.exe. ========================
