sabrina.txt Sabrina programs. ========================== Getting a "file was not found" error. I had him run it now to see what else it might say. Click on Play; it says "Error executing request, the file was not found." Nothing else. (Or else he's not reading me all of it.) Claims he's uninstalled it "about 3 times" and reinstalled and it still does it. Carefully cleaned the CD. Tried it; it does not autostart. Checked in MyComputer; it shows a Reader Rabbit CD; hit View, Refresh and then it updated to Sabrina2. Tried program from Start menu; still has this error. Checked system info: file system is in MSDOS mode (drive D:), virtual memory is 32-bit. No 32-bit CDROM drivers present. That's probably the whole reason for this problem. Needs to install proper 32-bit CDROM drivers. ===================== A guy had a HDD crash, got a new pre-formatted HDD from his computer company, now all games work but Sabrina has no sound. Went into the Sabrina disk to look for sound files. Found AIFF files. They were not associated with Quicktime, double clicked one and re-associated them with QT. Had to reboot before it would take effect. No sound in game. Re-associated the AIFF files with Quicktime 3. Sound files work from CD. Still not work in game. Rebooted machine. Works. ===================== Sabrina - IPF in circlwip.x32 Change video to 256 colors. ====================== Lockup when trying to grab the parrot! 1. Restart system if needed (usually needed because it locked up everything). 2. Go into the program and sign in. It should bring you back to the TV room where the parrot is. 3. Turn on the TV using the red button on the controller. 4. Use the magic microphone tool and zap the TV once with it. 5. Now advance the TV up 3 channels using the TV controller until you get to the Romeo & Juliet show. 6. Parrot goes all lovey-dovey with hearts etc. 7. When the cursor becomes a diamond, click on the parrot. 8. Sabrina will appear, make some comment, then go away. 9. The parrot will vanish and that's the end of that scene. You did it. ======================= Asking him to look for certain files, main.dxr; message says whereis \\fridge\program... spellbook. Problem opening main.dxr -45; script error, frame not defined. Checked system info; some drives using MSDOS compatibility. THAT's the problem; needs to set up proper 32-bit mode drivers for his CDROM and whatever else. HOWEVER, never underestimate stupidity. Make sure they have the CD in the drive, too! This kind of error can occur when it's just having trouble finding the files. ======================= CUSTOMER CLAIMS THE SECOND CD IS MISSING. THEY HAVE A MESSAGE ASKING THEM TO INSTALL THE SECOND CD. WHAT IT IS ASKING FOR IS THE "SABRINA 2" CD NOT DISK 2 THE PROGRAM IS NOT CALLED SABRINA 2 ON THE PACKAGE OR MANUAL IT SIMPLY STATES (SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH BRAT ATTACK) TREAT THIS AS A READ ERROR. THE DISK MAY NOT EVEN BE IN THE DRIVE. ========================= Won't run on Mac for some strange reason? She says she installed it but it won't run. "Document cannot be opened because application that created it could not be found. Cannot find a translation extension with appropriate translators." Went to HD; "Sabrina" folder (not Sabrina2 like booklet says) has just Brat Attack and Data; tried Brat Attack; it works. She must have been trying to run it from CD or something. =========================
