Hi my name is Vince, I live in Midwest City Oklahoma.
I've been a Ham all my life, But I've
only had my Ticket for about three years now. It's something I've wanted
to do since I was a
kid, but never seemed to have the time ( or the patience ) to get my license.
I have played
around with radios all my life, starting with my Dad's old National 66 short
wave receiver.
From there I got into CB radio, and just thought that was the stuff (Ha Ha),
well it was for
a kid in the early 70's. After that I just tinkered around with electronics,
and radios until I was
in my late thirties. Then one day I found myself laying flat on my
back recovering from a bad
accident I had at work. I had badly crushed my right leg, and would be laid
up for about 6
months. With nothing better to do than drive my poor wife insane; I decided
to start studying.
So my beautiful wife got me some books, and off I went. I hooked up with
a class at a local
radio club and got some help. I started when the classes were already half
over, but I got
through it anyway! I tested with the rest of the class, and walked away with
my Tech Plus
first try! My first call was KD5FQV. I wasn't to crazy about how that sounded
so about a
year later I went in to take my General class. Much to my delight I aced
the test. The V.E.'s
that gave the test asked if I wanted to try Extra class, so I did! Guess
what---I passed it also!
My new Extra call is AD5AJ. I think I'll stick with that one for a while.
Well that's my story.
Now on to the good stuff!
