Vacation was great! Portable QRP op.
from Marquette Bay (U.S. "Northern Coast" / Lake Superior / Michigan's U.P.) was a big success.
I had hot but good weather & real good band conditions. I operated four hours total.
Used my new DK9SQ push up tower, a folded dipole (abt. 30 feet), my MFJ 9020 (5W), my MK-44 paddles & a homebrew battery pack.
I set up right on the beach. The darn Mosquitoes were fierce as air was very still and muggy (very unusual for that area).
I had to recess briefly to re-dowse myself with Deet. Thanks to all who stopped by to say hello.
I was astonished to hear KG4FXG (Bill) calling me when I came up on frequency! You were my #1 Bill!
(Those Kentucky/Georgia NTS guys are hard to beat!)Thanks to WA9AQN (John), NC9T (Dan) & NS9F (Gene) for representing 9RN/ILN..
Thanks for putting out an alert on the reflector Dan.
Total of 27 stations worked including UA9CK/Anatoly, JH2QLC/Shiba & HA5KF/Fred.
Others worked were.. KG4FXG/Bill, WA9AQN/John, NC9T/Dan, NS9F/Gene, W8YMO/Harry, K7FD/John, K4JPN/Steve, N4FNG/Al, NR4E/Craig,
KD4PWB/Bill, KB3APR/Andrew, WB4HUL/Sid, K7UP/John, KF5Z/Rich, KX2J/Ron, K2JHZ/Ken, W7QC/Steve, K1HBX/Earl, N3WT/John, N8LXR/Tim, W4GRC/Greg, W9KRH/Jim, K4IA/Buck, K5SA/Skip.
It will take 2 -4 weeks to get photo QSL made and out to Y'all. Thanks for "making me proud" & providing me with a great time on the beach!
I did hear some stations calling I just couldn't copy. Function of my not having a high-end receiver.
Thanks to you guys too & sorry I couldn't get you in the old log. We'll have to do it again sometime!
I learned that posting operating times on the QRP-L and other places really pays off.
Also learned howto manage a small pile up. Great fun! Thanks again to all…/ Woody Hester (WD9F). |
