Look at the camouflage!

Recently on the commute home I noticed a crane putting up a tower at a Southern California Edison Electrical Distribution Area. I was thinking this should be old hat to Edison with all the poles that they have put up. And drove on home. As any HAM must, seeing a tower going up I looked the next day to check out the antennas. I was shocked to see nothing there. It took a good long look to see the hidden aerials coming out of the Pine Tree and then a second look to be sure I wasn’t seeing things. What a bit of camouflage.

Several months have gone by now since I’ve seen the pine tree, and in another city about 10 miles away, when setting at a long traffic lite line due to construction on the street and the company I work at cast the traffic lites (red, yellow, green) I was checking out the fixtures when I notice that in the distance there is another tree that is an antenna tower. Again this needs to be more closely scrutinized and as I get closer behold there are 2 trees close together that are artificial. I thought that the pine tree was a great bit of camouflage but I almost missed the second palm tree aerials.

Look close at the 2 trees and you will see that one of them is sporting a microwave dish.

I’m thinking this is my next tower and the neighbors already think I’m crazy. What would they think of an artificial tree in the yard for my antennas? This could be the way to get any agency to allow a tower in the neighborhood. Only in Los Angeles, California are the trees even going hi-tech. Wish these were mine!
