I am an extra class amateur radio operator, the highest of 5 licenses issued by
the FCC . My call sign is AC6NN and I was first
licensed back in 1994. For those of you who don't know of the hobby, amateur radio
(or ham radio) is the wonderful hobby of communicating with others via radio waves.
The hobby covers everything from HF (shortwave, more or less) to microwave, single
side band to digital.
My personal favorite modes of operation are HF DXing/Contesting and VHF/UHF digital.
I operate an Internet radio site, ac6nn.ampr.org, running a TCP/IP NOS called TNOS.
The whole thing runs on my Linux machine. We've
got a local Internet/AMPRnet gateway, which gives us a direct connection to the
landline world. All in all, lots of fun!!
