Order of ISBP Suite Modules

Index ]

Here is one way to line up ISBP suite modules. This is presuming the top of the list is closest to the ESE, and the bottom of the list is closest to the GES.

  1. Electric Service
  2. Water Service
  3. Natural Gas Service
  4. Audio-Video-Home Entertainment
  5. Telephone Service
  6. Computer and Equipment Communications
  7. Fire Alarm
  8. Burglar Alarm
  9. Spare
  10. Radio Reception
  11. Radio Transmission
  12. Local
  13. Lightning Protection
  14. Grounding Electrode

Current flow and noise will probably be closely linked in systems. The quietest systems (infrequent current flow) could be assigned to modules farther away from the grounding electrode, while the noisiest (frequent current flow) would be assigned the closest points to the grounding electrode. The benefits are that corrosion is lessened, the system will last much longer, and most of the current flow takes place closer to the earth and farther from people and animals. Safety is therefore enhanced.

Summary

Because all are systems grounding and bonding over the GEC, the order of module installation should not matter much. But, if given the opportunity to choose the "best" order from the ESE on down to the grounding electrode, then consider where the most current flow is occurring and which systems are "noisiest."
